Our story

Glanmor Evans spent many happy years working as Carpenter and Joiner with the County Council Estates Department based by the river Tywi at Old Llangunnor Road, Carmarthen. In 1983 he set up his own carpentry business and his carpentry work is extensive. One of the largest projects undertaken was the five large gothic stained glass windows inside Christ Church, Carmarthen.  He also made the main entrance doors of Christ Church and at Capel Newydd, Llanybri, and many benches in local villages such as the bench in memory of JH Davies in Llanybri.

In 1986 Mrs Annie Davies of Cwm Clyd, Llansteffan, passed away.  As was the tradition, the local carpenter also undertook to arrange the funeral.  So began the company which has grown from arranging 3 family funerals in the first year to around 200 funerals per year today.

They say behind a good man is a hard working woman! So is the case with Glanmor and his wife Wendy.  Her administrative skills are beyond compare and over a 30 year period Glanmor and Wendy arranged a wide variety of funerals in all sorts of locations.

The largest must be the funeral of the late great Ray Gravell at Stradey Park, Llanelli on 15 November 2007 attended by over seven thousand mourners and broadcast live on S4C.

In 2008 the opportunity arose to purchase the old Login School on Llangunnor Road, about a mile outside Carmarthen.  Glanmor began the task of renovating and developing the old school into Login Chapel of Rest.

This would not have been possible without many hours of help and support from a large number of friends (especially Dewi Evans, Egwad Evans and Goronwy Walters).  In 2011 Glanmor and Wendy Evans received the Carmarthen Civic Society Townscape Award for their work in preserving this historic building.

Login Chapel of Rest is now the company home.

In 2011 Iwan Evans joined the business as a full-time member of staff, ensuring the next generation of Funeral Directors within this family firm.  The firm developed again in 2020 appointing Emyr Davies as Funeral Director, and again in 2022 with Rhinedd Williams as Office Manager.

Glanmor Evans and Son employ a team of staff of the highest calibre to ensure that when a death occurs, our services are second to none.

Looking back over 30 years in the business, Glanmor and Wendy’s guiding principles remain as firm as they did in 1986.

Namely their dedication in providing the best service to the community and to treat all families as part of their own.

“Thank you for all you did for us at such a difficult time. Your professionalism, kindness and care was amazing.”
“Just to say how much we all appreciated your advice, guidance and support over the last few weeks.”
“Rydych chi wedi bod yn broffesiynol iawn ac wedi gwneud yr holl broses yn ddi-drafferth i ni fel teulu.”
